D1 - Iguaçu in

Afternoon, Argentinian waterfalls sightseeing tour. Located 28 km from town, the Iguaçu falls on the Argentine side measure 72 meters in height & form a semi circle which gives an amazing view. The falls are nestled in luxuriant vegetation that increases the feeling of an impressive force of nature. A series of paths and bridges gives some amazing view points that are completely different to those found on the Brazilian side. The main attraction is the access to the « devil throat » where you reach practically the bottom of the falls in their horse shoe form.

D2 - Iguaçu / Cuiaba

Morning, Brazilian side of the falls sightseeing tour.
The Iguacu Falls are among the most beautiful in the world with those of the Zambeze and Niagara. Situated on the border between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, the falls form an natural amphitheatre which is very different depending on which side you look at it Argentine or Brazilian. The Brazilian side is less spectacular but easier to access and there is a better view of the complete falls.
Afternoon, of leisure or Macuco Safari option:
Excursion to the falls in a twin motor zodiac, the boats go up the river current to the canyon with the falls.
The excursion starts in open electric cars for 3 kms in the national park, so you get a good look at the local fauna and flora. Then a 600 meter walks in the forest before arriver at the pier (possibility to stay in the cars for those who don’t want to walk).

Total excursion time: 1h45, from departure in the electric cars.
Transfer to airport (2hr direct flight to Cuiaba – J - 18h/19h50 (-1) arrival in Cuiaba and transfer to the hotel Golden Tulip.

D3 - Pantanal : Cuiaba / pousada Curicaca

Morning, departure by road (100 kms of tarmac road + 22 kms of track- about 2hrs15) to the Curicaca lodge.
Afternoon, safari photo in a row boat on the Rio Novo River, watch the sunset from the observation tower near the lodge.

Dinner & overnight at the Curicaca lodge.

D4 - Pantanal : Pousada Curicaca / Fazenda  Santa Tereza

After breakfast, another boat ride to see the early morning wildlife then departure to the Santa Tereza lodge 44 kms along the transpantaneira track to the south – (about 45min) with safari on the way.

Afternoon, around 4pm, safari in a motor boat on the Pixim river, watch the sunset from the observation tower right in the middle of the forest by the river’s edge, Appreciation of the observation tower.
After dinner, nocturnal safari with a 4X4 from the lodge (not private).
Overnight at the Fazenda (farm).

D5 - Fazenda  Santa Tereza / Cuiaba / Belo Horizonte / Ouro  Preto

Early morning, excursion by boat or horseback or on foot.
Breakfast and transfer to the airport of Cuiaba flight Tam 11h43/17h52 (+1), on arrival, transfer to OuroPreto (2h) arrival around 20h30.

D6 -  Ouro Preto / Mariana / Ouro Preto

Morning, visit of Mariana
Founded in 1696, this magnificent little mining town has managed to preserve its tranquility. Less touristy than its neighbor, Ouro Preto, it has kept all its charm.

Afternoon, visit of Ouro Preto
The town offers a superb image of this grand century of gold and colonial baroque: Sumptuously decorated churches, rich mansions, and sculptured fountains...Climbing streets with round paving stones lined with colonial houses. White walls with colored window frames, stone gateways, wrought iron balconies and weathered cascading red roofs.

D7 - Ouro Preto / Congonhas / São João del Rey / Tiradentes 

Morning, departure for Tiradentes via Congonhas where you will see the Basilica of Bom Jesus Matozinhos, and the chapel of the Prophets.

Continue to Sao Joao del Rei, visit of the Saint François d'Assise church and a panoramic tour of the town.

Arrival in Tiradentes and visit of the town.

D8 - Tiradentes / Petropolis / Rio de Janeiro

Continue the visit of Tiradentes
The city where our Hero of the« inconfidência » (failed insurrection) of 1789 was born. It has preserved the charm of a village where the gold diggers came for food, tools, work and often fights as the river is called the « Rio das Mortes ». One must see the Matriz de Santo Antonio church, which is marvelous...

Then off to Petropolis to visit this imperial town.
It was once the summer residence of the Brazilian emperors and presidents of the republic and still has some beautiful monuments of this era of the empire such as the Palais Impérial, and the Neo-gothic cathedral, that you will visit on your tour. Visit of the Palais Impérial (Closed on Mondays).

On to Rio and arrival end of the afternoon.

D9 - Rio de Janeiro

The morning, visit Sugar Loaf Mountain: A 4hr excursion with a guide (entrance fee included). You can see the mountain as soon as you enter the Guanabara bay. There are two parts to it, One that goes down to the Red Beach (Praia Vermelha) and to the Urca hill, which reaches 224 meters high; the other goes from Urca hill to the Sugar Loaf reaching 395 meters in height. The cable car trip lasts about 3 minutes for each part.

D10 - Rio de Janeiro / out

Morning, visit the Corcovado: a 4hr tour with a guide. The Corcovado hill, with its summit topped by the image of Christ the redeemer, is one of the main symbols of the town. This enormous stone monument, vertical and imposing, immerging out of the forest and dominating all around, is without doubt one of the elements that makes Rio de Janeiro « the wonderful city ». The climb to the top can be done by funicular train.

Transfer to the airport.
